The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the United Nations to evacuate soldiers from its UNIFIL peacekeeping force from combat zones in Lebanon, reported "Reuters".
According to Netanyahu, the Israeli military has repeatedly asked the UN to evacuate its soldiers.
In addition, the prime minister pointed out that their presence in the area made them hostages of Hezbollah.
We recall that on October 9 and 10, Israeli forces opened fire on several positions used by UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon, injuring two soldiers.
Earlier today, Israel again struck the main base of peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon, prompting UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Western countries to condemn the attacks. UNIFIL forces called this a "serious development" and said the security of UN personnel and property must be guaranteed. A third soldier was also injured in the attack.
For its part, Hezbollah said it was fighting Israeli forces trying to enter the village of Ramiya.
At the beginning of the month, Israel declared Guterres a "persona non grata" and banned him from entering the country.
