US President Joe Biden will visit Germany on Friday, after canceling his visit last week due to the hurricane "Milton", which caused great damage in the USA, Reuters reported, referring to today's announcement by government sources, BTA informed.
The German magazine “Spiegel“ first announced the new date, indicating that meeting plans are already at an advanced stage.
According to government sources, Biden's visit will not have the character of an official state visit.
„Spiegel“ announced that meetings of the US President with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier are scheduled for next Friday. The talks will focus on the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
The cancellation of the originally planned trip of the American head of state has thwarted plans for a meeting in a broader format of the so-called “Rammstein“ of Ukrainian arms donors who would discuss possible new commitments to aid Ukraine, notes Reuters.
