Recent attacks by Israeli forces against UN peacekeepers show that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to occupy Lebanon, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
"The Israeli government's repeated attacks against UNIFIL are a clear sign of its policy of occupation of Lebanon and its readiness to use military force without hesitation," the ministry stressed.
The ministry also called on all UN member states to prevent these strikes.
"It is up to every member of the UN Security Council to deter Israeli attacks against UN forces that they themselves have authorized," the statement said.
It calls on all countries to take a common stand against Israel and the countries that arm it.
