Heavy losses for Gazprom! Russian energy giant sells off holiday resorts - 1

Russian energy giant "Gazprom" announced plans to sell holiday resorts after registering its first annual loss in almost half a century, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The Kremlin-controlled company, which has some of the world's largest gas reserves, has posted a net loss of almost $7 billion for 2023 after sales in lucrative European markets plummeted amid a rift in relations between The West and Moscow.

"Gazprom" announced today that it has put 14 hotels and resorts up for sale, including the "Marriott Tsaghkadzor" in the Armenian Valley of Flowers.

"Gazprom" announced in May the sale of several hotels, including the "Imperial Park Hotel & Spa" in the Moscow region after deciding to move its headquarters from Moscow to the "Lakhta" business center. in St. Petersburg in 2021

It is unlikely that the sales will offset Gazprom's significant losses. Newspaper "Vedomosti" values the "Imperial Hotel" at up to $69.5 million.

"Gazprom" is preparing for a potential loss of the European gas market after the agreement with Ukraine on the transit of Russian gas to the EU expires at the end of the year. Ukraine recently announced that it does not want to negotiate on extending the deal with Russia.
