In August and September this year Russia seized 5.5 times more Ukrainian territory than in the whole of 2023 - this is the data of the information project UA War Infographics, cited by the BBC.
The UA War Infographics project calculated that in August the Russians captured 351 square km, in September - 468 square km. Before that, in the first half of the year, the Russian army managed to occupy no more than 200 square kilometers for month, and for the whole year 2023 it occupied a little less than one hundred and fifty square kilometers.
"The main reasons are the lack of weapons and changes in Russian tactics," the authors of the project, which deals with infographics, briefly explain.
From the data in the graph, it follows that for the nine months of 2024, Russia captured 1,559 square meters. km. This is approximately a quarter of a percent of the entire territory of Ukraine.
