Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres amid high tensions in the region. Aragchi warned that Iran will respond decisively to any Israeli attack, France Press reported.
"Iran is making significant efforts to protect peace and security in the region, but it is fully prepared to respond decisively to any adventure by Israel and make it regret it," Iran's foreign ministry said in a statement published today.
On October 1, Iran fired about 200 missiles at Israel, including several hypersonic ones. Iran indicated that the strikes were revenge for the killings of the leaders of the Lebanese movement "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah and the Palestinian "Hamas" Ismail Haniya, for which Israel was accused.
For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant warned Iran that Israel's response would be "deadly, precise and surprising".
In recent days, the Iranian foreign minister held a number of consultations in the region in an attempt to calm the situation.
He made consecutive visits to Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq and Oman.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that Aragchi will visit Jordan today and then travel to Egypt and Turkey.
