Two thirds of Greeks are of the opinion that there is overtourism in Greece, according to a poll by the polling agency “Pulse”, cited by the state ERT television.
Specifically, 29 percent of those asked answer that there is definitely overtourism in the country, and 38 percent are more likely to agree with this statement.
Over half of those surveyed - 54 percent – would prefer Greece to welcome fewer tourists but with a better financial profile.
The prevailing opinion, of 86 percent of the survey participants, is that tourism is very important to the Greek economy.
Almost half, 48 percent, believe that the decisions Greece is making for the future of tourism are in the right direction, while 28 percent express reservations and want to improve government policy.
The research was presented at the “Reimagine Tourism in Greece” congress, which is being held at the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
