Former President Donald Trump repeated his claim Wednesday that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, are eating their neighbors' pets, even though local and state leaders from both parties rejected that, CNN reported.
Asked if he really believed the Springfield story, Trump insisted he was only "repeating what was being reported" without sharing the sources.
The former president also - again without any evidence - said that the migrant community "eat other things they shouldn't be eating".
A spokesman for the city of Springfield said there were "no reports of such people within the immigrant community.
Germany's foreign ministry scoffed in September at the Republican candidate's false claim about immigrants eating pets.
In a debate with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump insisted that scores of Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, were stealing residents' pets or taking wild animals from parks for food.
Harris has repeatedly criticized Trump for the claims about the Haitians.
Trump said Haitian immigrants, despite their protected status under federal law, were "illegal immigrants as far as I'm concerned,", saying he would revoke their status and deport them if he wins another term in November.
