The Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" will continue to exist despite the death of its leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed during an Israeli military operation, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said today, AFP reported.
"His loss is certainly painful for the resistance front against Israel, "but it will not stop at all with Sinwar's martyrdom,", stressed Ayatollah Khamenei.
Iran does not recognize the state of Israel, which is its sworn enemy, and after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, it made support for the Palestinian cause one of the pillars of its foreign policy, AFP recalls.
Yahia Sinwar "was a brilliant figure of resistance and struggle", against Israel, according to Khamenei. "He faced with unwavering determination the cruel and aggressive enemy and defeated him with tact and courage," he added.
Sinwar, who was long in the shadows before becoming head of "Hamas", is considered the architect of the Palestinian Islamist movement's unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, leading to a bloody conflict that threatens to covered the entire region.
