Police in the Israeli-occupied West Bank today shot dead a Palestinian man who deliberately rammed his car into a security forces jeep security, DPA reported, referring to a message from the Israeli army.
The incident took place at the entrance to the Jewish settlement of Ofra, north of Ramallah.
A video broadcast by Israel's public broadcaster Cannes shows a law enforcement officer standing outside the open door of the police jeep seconds before the collision.
The Palestinian Islamist movement “Hamas“ described the attacker as a “resistance fighter” and stated that this act was in “response to the crimes of the Israeli occupiers and the terror against the Palestinian people”.
Violence in the West Bank spiked last year after the bloody attacks on Israel on October 7. Both Palestinian attacks on Israelis and violence by extremist Jewish settlers have increased.
