Firefighters said , that this morning they found the lifeless body of a 20-year-old man in the area of Pianoro near Bologna in Italy, reported the Italian news agency ANSA, quoted by BTA.
The man was reported missing after his car was swept away by rising waters of the Zena river overnight, as the city of Bologna and large areas of the Emilia-Romagna region were hit by floods.
Almost all rivers in the area have been issued a level 3 flood warning after heavy rains caused a “worse situation compared to (floods of) May 2023”, said regional governor Irene Priolo. Last year, Emilia-Romagna was hit by severe floods and landslides triggered by unprecedented rainfall, which killed 17 people and caused billions of euros in damage.
A total of 13 municipalities are in a “critical situation”, including Bologna, Reggio Emilia and Modena, after “175mm of rain fell in just a few hours,” Priolo said.
Overnight, Ravenna, Modena and Reggio Emilia were affected by floods, and heavy rains also created a critical situation on all Apennine roads in the region.
