Donald Trump is a threat to democracy and should be " "closed", but in the political sense of the word, said US President Joe Biden at a rally of the Democratic Party in the state of New Hampshire, where he called for a vote for Kamala Harris in the presidential election on November 5, writes BTA.
"We have to close it. Politically, let's lock it down, block it," Biden said of Trump. According to the head of state, the Republican candidate is a threat to democracy because he risks violating the American constitution if he wins against Harris.
In 2016, when Trump first ran for president of the United States, at his campaign rallies, his supporters often chanted "lock her up" (in prison - note ed.) addressed to his then Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, Reuters recalls.
This year at Kamala Harris rallies there were the same chants, but directed at Donald Trump amid a series of accusations leveled against him. He is accused of illegal payments to a porn star and of illegal actions during his attempts to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election, which he lost.
Harris did not encourage her supporters to chant at Trump, saying only that the US Department of Justice would handle those matters.
Trump's campaign staff urged Harris to condemn President Biden's comments.
