More fighter jets for Kyiv? Poland wants to exchange MiG-29 for F-35 and F-16 from the US - 1

Temporarily Piotr Lukasiewicz, Poland's charge d'affaires in Ukraine, said that the Ukrainians will receive MiG-29 multi-role fighters only after Western partners provide Warsaw with new aircraft.

In an interview with Ukrinform, the diplomat recalled that during the full-scale war, Poland transferred spare parts and even MiG-29 aircraft to the Ukrainian Air Force, and they are also preparing new aid packages. In total, the country has about 10-15 MiGs in service, which are still part of their air defense.

According to the diplomat, Poland is rearming its air force and is therefore buying F-16 and F-35 fighter jets from partners. This process is not yet complete, so the Poles "cannot afford to lose even these ten MiG-29s because they will feel unprotected“:

"Our allies should send several squadrons of other aircraft to Poland to give us time to build up our own capabilities so that we can transfer the MiGs that the Ukrainian pilots so desperately need.
