Billionaire Elon Musk has donated a total of 119 million dollars in support of the campaign of the candidate of the Republican Party for President of the United States, Donald Trump, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
In the first half of October, the head of "Tesla" has transferred $43.6 million to the Political Action Committee "America" - a political action organization he created to support Trump's presidential campaign, which focuses primarily on winning swing states like Pennsylvania.
Between July and the end of September, Musk, who appeared at numerous rallies with Trump, donated about $75 million.
At the same time, the organization continues its controversial practice of giving away $1 million each day until the Nov. 5 election to one registered voter. On Wednesday, American media reported that the Department of Justice warned Elon Musk that this campaign may be in violation of American election law.
The campaign is aimed at voters who sign a petition. The petition is for "freedom of speech and the right to bear arms” and only a registered voter in one of the seven swing states can sign it.
Under US election law, it is illegal to pay citizens to vote or register to vote. Musk claims the $1 million reward is meant to draw more attention to the petition and is therefore legal.
