Fourteen people showed symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning this morning in a hotel in the village of Limnochori, Northern Greece, reported the Greek newspaper “Kathimerini”, quoted by BTA.
All 14 people reportedly developed respiratory problems and were transported to hospitals, with some of them unconscious. The likely cause is believed to be a carbon monoxide leak from the hotel's heating system.
The fire department as well as the police immediately arrived on the scene to evacuate the building.
At least two of those hospitalized are reported to be in serious condition, with one already intubated. The owner of the hotel was arrested and is currently in custody.
