Turkey's military-technical cooperation with Ukraine is puzzling amid Ankara's efforts to mediate the resolution of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with the Turkish newspaper "Hurriet".
Unfortunately, Ankara continues to cooperate with the "Kiev regime" in the military-technical sphere. Turkish weapons are being used by the Ukrainian military to kill Russian soldiers and civilians, Lavrov said.
This cannot but cause bewilderment against the background of the statements of the Turkish leadership about its readiness to be a mediator, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia in the interview with “Hurriet“, published today.
At the same time, Lavrov added that peace in Ukraine is clearly not in the plans of the West and Kiev, “and this leaves no chance for successful mediation by Turkey”.
The Russian Foreign Minister also commented on Turkey's plans to join the BRICS.
I am convinced that Turkey can make a significant contribution to the further development of BRICS. The decision on the parameters of Turkey's participation in the association will be made on the basis of consensus and respect for the sovereign choice of all BRICS countries and Turkey itself, Lavrov pointed out.
