Putin panics: orders emergency offensive in Kursk over Trump's victory - 1

Vladimir Putin orders emergency counteroffensive in Kursk Oblast because he fears the “peace plan” of Donald Trump may leave some Russian land under the control of Ukraine.

Forbes reported that on Thursday, Russian marines backed by North Korean soldiers launched an offensive in the occupied Kursk region against Ukrainian forces. One of the reasons for such a rush could be the so-called “peace plan” of Donald Trump, about whom the Western media wrote earlier.

Trump, who won the US presidential election earlier this week, promised to end the war in Ukraine “within 24 hours”, without specifying how. One of Trump's proposals is for Ukraine and Russia to agree to a truce on the current front line. This includes not only the southern and eastern parts of Ukraine, but also the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, which will be a huge reputational blow for Putin.

If Trump's plan works – and there is a big “if“ – Russia would effectively give up hundreds of square kilometers of Russian land in exchange for about 20 percent of Ukraine. But even so, Russian dictator Putin will not be happy with this seemingly advantageous exchange.

Forbes sources reported that in its attack on the ZSU, the Russian 810th Marine Infantry Brigade, with North Korean soldiers attached to it, suffered a catastrophic failure. During the attack, the Russians sent 14 armored personnel carriers into battle, ten of which were destroyed or abandoned. There are dozens of victims.

Putin wants to quickly take back the Russian territory occupied by Kiev, because it is a huge shame for him that a nuclear power of the Russian Federation cannot defend its own territory. However, Trump, proposing the creation of a demilitarized zone, at the same time does not propose any means of its implementation, in which case it will be ignored or often violated.

Meanwhile, The Guardian writes that Donald Trump will try to find a quick solution to end the war in Ukraine. However, the past experience of Trump's diplomacy shows that such attempts can lead to failure. Western journalists point out that Trump plans to freeze the war on the current front line, and Ukraine should refuse to join NATO for the next 20 years. Military experts point out that this will be a huge failure for Ukraine and a victory for Putin. One reason is that Putin cannot be trusted and will easily break promises and treaties he has kept, as he has done many times in the past.

The WSJ reported that one of the options for the “peace plan” Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Ukraine could be to deny NATO membership for at least 20 years. The former commander of the US military in Europe, Ben Hodges, believes that such a move would be a terrible mistake.

„We would be very naive and stupid if we thought that Russia would suddenly become some kind of responsible country that adheres to some agreements,” the general told KIЇВ24. According to Hodges, most Ukrainians would reject such a plan. He noted that Ukraine cannot do everything according to the instructions of the American or Russian president. The military also added that a similar “contract“ it will effectively reward Putin's military aggression and not solve any future problems.
