US President-elect Donald Trump will indeed has made an attempt to improve relations with Russia, and his proposals to resolve the Ukrainian conflict will be more beneficial to Moscow than to Kiev. This prediction was made by the director of the Center for the Study of International Security Problems at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana), Michael Desch, who is also a professor in the faculty of international relations at this higher educational institution.

"I assume that former and future President Trump will try to improve his relations with Russia," said the American political scientist. “His first priority will likely be ending the war in Ukraine. Considering the state of affairs on the ground, the agreement will probably be more in favor of Russia than Ukraine”, Desh is convinced.

Trump's running mate, future US Vice President James David Vance, commented on the issue of settlement in Ukraine in mid-September. As he said then, Trump's plan may include a guarantee that Ukraine will maintain its neutrality, that is, its refusal to join NATO and other Western “allied institutions”. Trump himself has repeatedly stated in recent months that he will be able to quickly overcome the Ukrainian crisis. However, he did not reveal details.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Trump defeated his opponent, Democratic representative Kamala Harris, in the November 5 general election. In addition, the Republicans were able to take control of the US Senate. Based on current information, Republicans may also consolidate their majority in the House of Representatives.
