Britain has criticized Russia's nuclear doctrine update as "irresponsible".
"It would be fair to say that the update of Moscow's nuclear doctrine is yet another example of the irresponsibility we have come to expect from the corrupt Russian government,", a spokesman for Prime Minister Keir Starmer said.
He made his remarks hours after Putin announced Moscow's decision to expand the authorization to use nuclear weapons to include aggression by a non-nuclear state backed by a nuclear one, among other changes.
Separately, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed today that the Ukrainian military fired five ATACMS missiles at a target in the Bryansk region.
