Kremlin: No! Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden did not speak on the red phone - 1

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed to TASS that the hotline between the US and Russia, established during the Cuban Missile Crisis, is currently not being used.

"We have a special secure line of communication between the presidents of the two countries, Russia and the United States. What's more, even for video communication," said Peskov.

The hotline between the two leaders is also not used for emergency communication, the Kremlin spokesman added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden last spoke by phone on February 12, 2022, less than two weeks before the start of Russian military intervention in Ukraine, according to information on the Kremlin's official website.

The Kremlin called "reckless" the decision of the administration of US President Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to use long-range US missiles for strikes deep into Russian territory. According to the Kremlin, this move will lead to "direct involvement" of NATO in the war in Ukraine.

Moscow, which leads its "special military operation" in Ukraine for 1,000 days, has repeatedly warned the West that expanding military aid to Kiev is a dangerous provocation. President Vladimir Putin said in September that authorizing such strikes would mean NATO military infrastructure and personnel would be involved in guiding and launching the missiles.
