Russia Gives North Korea Anti-Aircraft Missiles in Exchange for Support for Ukraine War - 1

Russia has provided North Korea anti-aircraft missiles and air defense equipment, as part of increasing military cooperation between the two countries. This was revealed by the national security advisor of South Korea, Shin Won-sik, quoted by “Reuters”, reports News.bg.

According to him, the provided armament was the result of the agreement between Moscow and Pyongyang, in which North Korea sent troops to support Russia's war in Ukraine.

Support for Russia and mutual agreements

In recent years, North Korea has openly strengthened its military relationship with Russia. In June 2023 Russian President Vladimir Putin made an unusual visit to Pyongyang, where he signed a mutual defense agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. This visit highlighted the significant growth in bilateral military cooperation and mutual support in the context of global conflicts.

Preparation for new deliveries

Analysts warn that North Korea's increased production of artillery and cruise missiles may be part of preparations for further military supplies to Russia. The deployment of North Korean troops in Russia has led to a change in tone in Seoul, which has so far been opposed to sending lethal weapons to Ukraine. However, South Korea has recently hinted that it may reconsider its longstanding policy on the matter.
