US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the North Korean troops that have been sent to Russia will soon take part in combat operations against Ukraine, writes Le Monde.
"Based on what North Korean soldiers have been trained in and how they have been integrated into the Russian armed forces, I fully expect them to be participating in combat operations soon,” Austin said.
The minister adds that so far there is no substantial evidence that North Korean military personnel have "participated in hostilities". South Korean government officials, for their part, said Moscow was supplying Pyongyang with fuel, air defense systems and economic aid in exchange for North Korean troops.
