Waiting for Donald Trump! US Congress won't vote on new aid to Kiev until new president takes office - 1

The issue of additional aid to Ukraine will not be voted on in the US Congress. Lawmakers are awaiting guidance on the matter from US President-elect Donald Trump. This was stated by the chairman of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, reports Voice of America (VOA).

Johnson has announced that he does not intend to put additional aid to Ukraine to a vote in the US House of Representatives.

"Joe Biden (the current president of the United States – ed.) should not make such a decision. We have a newly elected president, we will wait and follow the instructions of the new commander-in-chief, he noted.

The inauguration of the newly elected US president is scheduled for January 20, 2025. Recently, Biden appealed to Congress for additional funding for Ukraine for 2025. He mentioned the amount of 24 billion dollars.

Biden's previous request to Congress for more than $60 billion in additional aid to Ukraine also met with opposition from Johnson in the US House of Representatives. Then consideration of this issue lasted six months, which in turn led to problems at the front for the Ukrainian military.

The Biden administration is now seeking to spend all funds previously appropriated by Congress to support Ukraine before Trump's inauguration.
