Russia has urged its citizens to leave Syria as in recent days, the Islamist-led rebels are making rapid progress, capturing several key cities from the Syrian army, backed by Russian forces, AFP reported, quoted by BTA.
The Russian Embassy in Damascus issued a statement inviting its citizens to "leave the country by passenger flights (...) due to the complex military and political situation", adding that its offices in Damascus continue to operate " normal".
"In connection with the complicated military and political situation in Syria, the Russian Embassy in Damascus invites Russian citizens living in Syria to leave the country by regular civilian flights from the operating airports. The embassy and the consular department continue to work in normal mode, the diplomatic mission said in a message published on its Telegram channel.
