The Romanian prosecutor's office and police are conducting searches of houses in several cities in the country on Saturday, reported Ag. Agerpress.
The nine searches are carried out, according to the General Prosecutor's Office, in connection with “inciting the public to violence and hatred against persons based on their nationality, sexual orientation or expression of political views in the context of the electoral process in Romania. "
We are talking about actions that incite violence against a candidate in presidential elections or against those who support a certain candidate, and texts that contain fascist, racist or intolerant concepts or doctrines, sow hatred and violence on ethnic grounds, racial lines or religious reasons. In particular, members of the organization Roma for Democracy (“Gypsies for Democracy”) received threats.
Three searches are being carried out in the city of Brasov for cases of voter bribery, money laundering, digital fraud, as well as manifestations of fascism, racism or intolerance. Among the suspects is Bogdan Peshkir, who financed the election campaign of the independent candidate Calin Georgescu.
Nine more searches are being carried out in Bucharest and in the counties of Ilfov, Neamts, Maramures, Timis and Salaj in connection with the memorial service of the monument of the leader of the Legionary movement (fascist organization in pre-war Romania) Corneliu Zelia Codreanu on November 30 in with Tsinkabeshti, in which 100-150 people participate, incl. Member of the European Parliament, leader of the nationalist party "SOS Romania" Diana Shoshok.
