Moscow scolds Donald Trump: Ukraine lost many more soldiers than the Russian army - 1

Russian President's spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the words of US President-elect Donald Trump regarding the assessment of Russian losses in the war against Ukraine, the BBC summarized.

Trump said after talks with Zelensky in Paris that Russia had lost 600,000 soldiers killed and wounded and called on the parties to start peace talks.

The former (and future) head of the White House also estimated the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed and wounded at 400,000, but later Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky specified that it was 43,000 killed and 370,000 wounded, with some of the wounded, he said, are returning to the ranks.

"As for the cited figures for the losses of both sides, it is obvious that they are set out in the Ukrainian interpretation and reflect the official position of Ukraine", Peskov said on the issue. - The real figures for the losses are completely different. Ukrainian losses are several times higher than those of the Russian side".

His statement also said that the conditions for peace had recently been named by Vladimir Putin: the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, as well as Kiev's refusal to join NATO.

Kiev and its Western allies had previously called these conditions unacceptable.

Peskov recalled that Ukraine had banned contacts with the Russian leadership by a special decree, which, in his opinion, should be canceled if the negotiations continued.
