The State Department of the United States supported the sale of F-16 aircraft maintenance services to Ukraine for a total of $266.4 million, reports UNIAN.
"The US State Department issued a resolution authorizing the potential sale to the government of Ukraine of F-16 fighter jet maintenance services and related equipment for approximately $266.4 million. The Defense Cooperation Agency has provided the required certification by notifying Congress ", according to the US Defense Cooperation Agency website.
The document states that Ukrainian authorities have made a request regarding the necessary services and equipment to support the operation of the F-16. This includes:
Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS);
AN/PYQ-10 (SKL) key loaders;
some modifications and technical support;
Engine Component Improvement Program (CIP);
Spare parts for aircraft and their engines;
repair maintenance, restoration of equipment, consumables and accessories;
software, weapons software support hardware, and classified and unclassified software and delivery support;
staff training and training equipment;
US Government and contractor technical and logistics services and other related logistics elements.
This aid package is expected to enhance Ukraine's ability to counter current and future threats with a more powerful air defense system in support of self-defense and regional security missions.
Main contractors are Sabena (Charleroi, Belgium), Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (Fort Worth, Texas, USA), Pratt and Whitney (East Hartford, Connecticut, USA).
