Ukraine announced that it had hit an oil base in the Russian city of Orel overnight, Ukrinform reported, citing the Telegram channel "Baza", BTA reports.
Local residents reported powerful explosions.
The city of Orel is located about 160 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, which often targets oil bases on Russian territory.
Earlier today, the Russian Defense Ministry reported, quoted by TASS, that five drones were shot down over the Orel region.
According to regional authorities, fuel stored at an unspecified infrastructure facility caught fire and windows were broken on houses.
One person was killed and two injured in a Ukrainian drone attack in the Belgorod region this morning, the governor of the Russian border region Vyacheslav Gladkov said, as quoted by TASS.
A 9-year-old boy was killed in the attack in the village of Maisky. His mother and seven-month-old sister were injured.
The Russian Defense Ministry meanwhile reported that a total of five Ukrainian drones were shot down over the Belgorod region.
