At least 21 killed in Mozambique after ruling party's victory confirmed VIDEO - 1

At least 21 people were killed in two days in Mozambique after the southern African country's highest court confirmed the victory of the ruling party for decades in the October elections, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA, citing Interior Minister Pascoal Ronda.

So far, 78 people have been arrested. Security measures have been tightened across the country.

The decision of the Constitutional Council to confirm the ruling party's victory has sparked a new wave of protests in Mozambique. According to the opposition, the elections were rigged - accusations that were denied by the "Frelimo" party (an abbreviation for the Mozambique Liberation Front - ed.), which has been in power in the former Portuguese colony since it gained independence in 1975.

In addition to poverty, another major problem in the country is the jihadists who are rampant in the north.

In addition, Mozambique was hit earlier this month by the cyclone "Shido", which according to the latest data has caused the death of at least 120 people, most of whom - in the northern province of Cabo Delgado.
