Current US President Joe Biden and future president Donald Trump sent different messages on Christmas to their compatriots, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Biden called for Americans to reflect and unite, while Trump congratulated them with a series of posts on social networks.
Biden's greeting included a tour of the White House, decorated for Christmas. Biden spoke against the backdrop of this tour. He called on Americans to sit together, forgetting about the noise and everything that divides them.
“Wherever you are on Earth, take care of each other“, Biden said, as the camera focused on elements of the Christmas decorations. "Too often we see each other as enemies, not as neighbors, not as fellow citizens", he added, calling for this Christmas to be a moment of quiet reflection for Americans, reminding them to treat each other with dignity and respect, to live with light in their souls, and to remember that there are more things that unite Americans than divide them.
In the middle of the morning local time, Trump posted a Christmas greeting on his social network, accompanied by a photo in which he posed with his wife Melania. This was followed by a series of reposts of articles or other social media posts supporting his political positions on topics such as Pete Hegseth's controversial nomination for Secretary of Defense or Trump's statements on Greenland and the Panama Canal.
One repost made fun of Barack Obama and showed a photo of President Obama and Trump at Trump's 2017 inauguration, accompanied by the words: "When you meet the guy at your inauguration who said you'd never be president."
