US President Joe Biden announced the allocation of nearly $2.5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine, according to a statement published on the White House website.

“Today, I am proud to announce the allocation of nearly $2.5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine“, the statement said. The amount includes a package of measures to implement the initiative to strengthen security in Ukraine in the amount of $1.22 billion USD.

"I have directed my administration to continue providing assistance to Ukraine as quickly as possible, including distributing older American equipment to Ukraine, quickly delivering it to the battlefield, and then activating the US defense industrial base to modernize and replenish our stockpiles with new weapons“, Biden added.

He also said that the Pentagon is now "in the process" of delivering hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds, thousands of missiles and hundreds of armored vehicles to Kiev. In addition, the American leader promised that the US will "work tirelessly" to strengthen Kiev's position in the conflict until the end of his presidential term, which ends in January 2025.
