The Ukrainian monitoring project DeepState indicates in its latest update of the frontline map that the Russians have captured the rest of the residential areas of Kurakhovo and have entered the industrial zone to the west of them.
On the updated map from the evening of January 1, DeepState notes the Russians' progress in three main areas of their attacks: southwest of Pokrovsk, southwest and west of Velika Novoselska, and in and around Kurakhovo.
In Kurakhovo, according to DeepState, Russian units have already captured part of the industrial zone with the Kurakhovo thermal power plant, where, according to Ukrainian military bloggers, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have equipped a fortification.
Russian military channels on Telegram report that the Russians have raised a flag over The Kurakhov thermal power plant in the eastern part of the industrial zone even before the New Year.
The fighting within the borders of Kurakhov has been going on for two months. They began in early November.
On the evening of January 1, Ukrainian military blogger Bogdan Miroshnikov stated that fighting is still going on in Kurakhov and only Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are entering the territory of the thermal power plant.
These statements contradict DeepState's data.
The Russian occupiers are not attempting a direct assault on Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, but are trying to surround the city and thus approach it. This was stated by the spokesman for the "Khortitsa" group, Major Viktor Tregubov, quoted by "Ukrainska Pravda". He points out that the movement of the Russian army is through neighboring settlements and a concentration of troops. Separately, regular attacks with strike drones are being carried out.
In addition, DeepState reports on the movement of the Russian army in Volkovo, Neskuchne, Novoelizavetovka, Soleno, Vozdvizhenka.
In the village of Novovasilevska, south of Pokrovsk, fierce fighting continues, with Russian forces conducting active assault operations. They are many times superior in number to the Ukrainians and are attacking from the south and east.
Heavy fighting is also taking place in the Zaporizhia region.
