London police said a 14-year-old boy was fatally stabbed on a bus in the southeast of the British capital this afternoon. This is another case of stabbing violence in the UK, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

According to a police statement, law enforcement was called to the "Woolwich" neighborhood, where paramedics treated the boy with stab wounds, but he sadly died shortly after their arrival.

No arrests have been made at this time, and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

This is the latest in a series of stabbing incidents in the UK, with such crimes on the rise. In September last year, a teenager was also fatally stabbed in the same London borough of "Woolwich".

According to figures from the British Home Office, from March 2023 to March 2024, police in England and Wales recorded a total of more than 50,500 knife incidents, an increase of 4% on the previous 12-month period.

In the period between March 2022 and March 2023, 82% of teenage murders were committed with a knife, compared with 73% in the same period the previous year, according to the latest official figures.

In September 2024, a law came into force banning machetes and "zombie" knives, the use of which has doubled in five years.
