Boeing donates $1 million to Donald Trump's inauguration - 1

The American aircraft manufacturer "Boeing" will donate $1 million to the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as US president. This was announced by a company spokesman, quoted by Reuters and BTA.

A number of leading American companies, including "General Motors", "Ford", "Microsoft" and "Meta", also announced their donations for the event, scheduled for January 20.

"Boeing" has donated $1 million to each of the last three presidential inaugurations, including Donald Trump's first inauguration in 2017.

In 2016, the company promised Trump that the cost of developing a new presidential plane, Air Force One, would not exceed $4 billion. However, the project has suffered significant delays, and Boeing has reported losses of more than $2 billion related to the program to deliver two new next-generation aircraft.

In addition to its financial challenges, Boeing has been under increased scrutiny by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). A year earlier, a large panel on a 737 MAX 9 jet broke off in flight due to four missing bolts. That led to a new audit announced by the FAA last October.

Trump's Transportation Secretary nominee Sean Duffy told Reuters he would seek to ensure that "Boeing" produces safe planes and meets its obligations.
