The First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, expressed doubt in an interview on RTL radio that her husband Emmanuel Macron will give up politics after his second presidential term ends in 2027, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
"Can one stop politics? Who are the politicians who have given up politics?", Brigitte Macron asked and stated that even the people she knew who said they had given up politics actually did not in their minds.
Macron himself has not said what he intends to do after 2027. But Brigitte hopes that he will take a break from work.
"At the moment he is so busy. I think he needs time to imagine what he will do in the future, especially after so much adrenaline", she said.
The first lady also said that Macron has written a lot of things and that maybe one day they will be published.
"I would like him to stop working, he works all the time", she added.
According to the constitution, Macron cannot run for a third consecutive term. He was first elected in 2017, when he was 39 years old, and was re-elected in 2022. In both cases, he opposed the far-right leader Marine Le Pen. Again, according to the constitution, there is nothing preventing Macron from running for another term, starting in 2032, notes Agence France-Presse.
