A large-scale fire broke out on January 15 at an oil refinery in Volgograd, Russia, Focus reports. The plant is owned by the company "Lukoil", RBC-Ukraine reports, citing the Telegram channel Astra.
The fire broke out at around 4 a.m. local time (the same time as in Bulgaria) at the "Lukoil" refinery in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. According to local residents, they heard explosions when the fire broke out.
Russian media reported that the emergency services of the Russian Federation confirmed the incident. Despite the scale of the fire, it broke out in installation No. 18 and two heat exchange units, but was quickly localized. “There were no casualties or injuries in the incident“, Russian media reported.
According to Russian emergency services officials, the cause of the fire was not related to external actions. The exact circumstances that led to the fire are currently being investigated.
