Around 30 MEPs today expressed their deep concern over Elon Musk's interference and smear campaigns in Europe, calling on the European Commission to take action, Agence France-Presse reported.
“Elon Musk is not just a foreign billionaire, he is a future member of the Trump administration who attacks, without blinking an eye, the most loyal allies of the United States“, warned these MEPs from the right, the left, the “Greens“ and the center.
In their letter to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the MEPs mention in particular the German election campaign, in which the South African billionaire openly supported the far-right party “Alternative for Germany“ (AfD).
“The European Commission must investigate the compliance of Musk's recent defamation campaigns with the Digital Services Act“, MEPs call on the European Commission, referring to the strict European regulations in the field of digital technologies.
“What is the position of the European Commission and what does it intend to do now that it has established that the “Ex“ platform does not comply with the Digital Services Act?“, asks the letter, signed in particular by Nathalie Loiseau, Maria Walsh and Aurore Laluc.
