Swedish police have arrested a man who tried to ram a car into the gates of the Russian embassy in Stockholm early this morning, Reuters reported.
The 45-year-old man's attempt failed and he was detained under aggravating circumstances, police said, without giving further details about his identity.
A police spokesman said the man's motive was unclear and nothing suspicious was found in the car.
The Russian embassy complex was not seriously damaged in the attempted break-in.
„A Ukrainian citizen, permanently residing in Sweden, tried to ram a car into the gates of the Russian embassy in Stockholm in a car,” the embassy said in a statement on its Telegram channel. “The perpetrator of the incident is well known to both the embassy and local police,” the statement added.
Swedish police have not yet confirmed this information.
“We do not comment on the nationality of the arrested people,” a police spokeswoman said.
