The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army Oleksandr Syrsky signed an order on January 11, according to which about 50,000 servicemen from all types of troops will be transferred to the Ground Forces to replenish combat brigades in order to begin the rotation process, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Citing an estimate by the New York Times, the publication notes that this is approximately 20% of all Ukrainian soldiers currently on the front, NYT previously estimated that there were 250,000 on the front Ukrainian and 400,000 Russian soldiers.
"We need to do this in order to start the rotation mechanism. The resources that are currently being studied in the training centers are only enough for minimal replenishment of the units, and not for full support of the combat component. And thanks to these movements between the troops, as well as the new soldiers recruited, we will be able to do this," claims the source of "Ukrainska Pravda".
At the beginning of the year, the Ukrainian press wrote many times about the transfer of highly qualified specialists to the Ground Forces. On January 14 (i.e., after Syrsky's order, if the source of "Ukrainskaya Pravda" is to be believed), the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that it does not plan to transfer military aviation specialists to the infantry.
Then, the statement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that the commander-in-chief had banned the movement of specialists in high-tech specialties and those who had been trained abroad on foreign military equipment.
At the same time, some categories of Air Force servicemen, like other branches of the armed forces, replenish the ground and airborne forces after training in training centers.
At the end of last year, the representative of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Ignat, stated that all branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine send people to the ground units, and the Air Force is no exception, since it is the second largest branch of the military in the army.
