The Croatian consumer platform “Hello, Inspector“ announced today a new general boycott of all goods and services on Friday, February 7, and from Saturday - a one-week boycott of one retail chain, which will be announced later, HINA reported, quoted by BTA.

The decision on which chain to be boycotted by consumers for one week will be made based on a poll published on the platform's website, which will be open for voting until midnight today.

"At midnight we will close the poll and we will announce at night which chain will be the subject of a one-week boycott", said Yosip Kelemen, chairman of the platform. "All chains will be boycotted at some point, but one of them has to be the first," he added.

Kelemen also indicated that consumers in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia would join the boycott again, with Kosovo also taking part.

The week-long boycott of three major retail chains, as well as three products - carbonated drinks, bottled water and detergents, ends at midnight today.

Last week, the Croatian government decided to introduce measures to directly control prices of certain products and categories in retail trade, setting a list of 70 products with limited prices. The measure is intended to help protect citizens from high prices in stores. The decision will come into effect on Friday, February 7.
