The number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza war has exceeded 50,000, the Hamas-controlled health service said, quoted by DPA.

The figures cannot be independently verified, but international organizations such as the UN consider them largely reliable.

The war began on October 7, 2023, after Hamas and other Palestinian groups attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking more than 250 hostages.

A six-month ceasefire went into effect in January, but Israel resumed its attacks this week, killing hundreds of Palestinians since then.

According to media reports, about 30 people were killed in Israeli attacks in southern Gaza on Monday. The Palestinian Wafa news agency reported separate attacks, including drone strikes in Rafah and Khan Yunis, targeting residential buildings and a car.

Earlier, the Israeli military warned residents of Tal al-Sultan in Rafah that troops would "launch an offensive against terrorist organizations" there.

Residents were urged to leave the area of the fighting. Videos of people fleeing Rafah were shared on social media.
