The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Myanmar has reached 694, with another 1,670 injured, AFP reported, citing local authorities.

Another 68 people are still missing, state television channel MRTV reported. Authorities are continuing to compile a list of those wanted.

The powerful earthquakes registered on March 28 caused destruction in almost the entire country, many residential, administrative buildings and hospitals collapsed.

The Meteorological Department of Thailand registered 77 aftershocks after the earthquake in Myanmar.

“After the earthquake in the Sagaing fault area in Myanmar, 77 low-intensity earthquakes were registered by 06:00 (01:00 Bulgarian time) on Saturday,“, the department said in a statement.

It is specified that in many areas of Thailand the earthquakes were practically not felt.
