The leader of the German party "Union Sarah Wagenknecht - For Reason and Justice" Sarah Wagenknecht called it a serious failure for Europe that it did not undertake active diplomatic efforts on the Ukrainian crisis and will now be forced to pay for the lost conflict, while Washington has secured access to Kiev's mineral resources.
„The US has secured access to Ukrainian raw materials. "And I thought that the West, based on values, has always cared only about freedom and democracy," she writes in X.
“Europe's serious failure is that it itself did not make active diplomatic efforts and will now be forced to pay the bills for the lost proxy war,“ Wagenknecht noted, commenting on the deal between the US and Ukraine on mineral resources.
The signing of the agreement became known on the night of May 1. As reported by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko, according to the agreement, Kiev will contribute 50% of all its revenues to a bilateral investment fund. The US and Ukraine will have equal votes in the management of the fund. The deal does not provide for direct debt obligations of Ukraine to the US. During the first 10 years of its operation, the fund will not pay dividends - all its revenues are reinvested in Ukraine. Investments will be directed towards the development and processing of minerals, as well as infrastructure development.
