The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on four Chinese citizens and seven Chinese companies for what Washington says is helping Iran produce critical materials needed for its ballistic missile program.
This was stated in a written statement by the Treasury Department.
One Iranian citizen and three Iranian companies were included in the blacklist. The sanctioned individuals, according to the ministry, are helping Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps “develop carbon fibers needed to produce intercontinental ballistic missiles“.
“The US cannot allow Iran to develop intercontinental ballistic missiles. "The Iranian regime's reckless pursuit of ballistic missile development, including its efforts to build its own, poses an unacceptable threat to the United States and to regional stability," Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said.
The designation freezes U.S. assets and prohibits U.S. citizens and companies from doing business with the individuals.
