Ukraine is still capable of defeating Russia in a direct military confrontation, but the only possible way is sabotaged by Donald Trump's unwise diplomacy. This is what military analysts Jonathan Sweet and Mark Toth write on the pages of The Hill.

They admit that Ukraine does not have enough human resources and weapons to expel the Russians from its territory "in close combat". Such a strategy would only lead to a large number of casualties and would benefit the Kremlin in its strategy of a war of attrition.

According to analysts, in order to defeat Russia, Ukraine must win the war in the air, protect its own rear, and simultaneously launch an air campaign to destroy Russian military-industrial potential in the rear and suffocate Russian logistics at the front.

Analysts note that Ukraine will need decisive support from the West to implement this plan. First of all, logistics and intelligence - more aircraft, more air defense systems, more missiles of different ranges. It is extremely important that Ukraine be able to destroy Russian material resources not only in occupied territory, but also deep inside the territory of Russia itself. And not just military resources.

"The task and goal of a deep war is to destroy Russia's ability to wage war by attacking its sources of income (oil refineries), military production and ammunition storage (drones, ammunition, weapons), as well as its deep strike capabilities (airports from which Russian bombers are launched)“, analysts explain.

Having left the Russian army only with resources to continue hostilities, Ukraine will be able to launch a large-scale offensive on the front, capable of causing the collapse of Russian defenses and the rapid liberation of territories without prolonged fierce fighting.

However, this entire plan, starting with the conquest of the sky, has been thwarted by US President Donald Trump, analysts believe. They note that attempts to involve Putin in ceasefire negotiations lead to nothing but delaying time. Russia is using this time to produce new weapons, replacing its losses on the front.

The war in Ukraine

UNIAN reported earlier that, according to the Ukrainian military, under the slogans of negotiations, Russia has already launched a major summer offensive in Ukraine. The Russians are accumulating resources and actively storming a number of targets.

In particular, in the southern part of Ukraine, the situation in the direction of Novopavlovsk is the most complicated. There, Russian forces are rushing to the intersection of the administrative borders of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The Russians are conducting massive attacks there with small groups of infantry, using armored vehicles and motorcycles in these attacks.
