Final data from the elections in Romania: Nikusor Dan wins with over 53%  - 1

The independent candidate for president of Romania, Nikusor Dan, received 6,168,642 votes or 53.60 percent in the second round of the presidential elections. This is shown by the final data of the Permanent Electoral Authority after processing all protocols from the polling stations, BTA reported.

In second place is the candidate of the Alliance for the Unification of Romanians, Gheorghe Simion, who received 5,339,053 votes or 46.40 percent. The difference between the two candidates is 829,589 in favor of Nikusor Dan.

The voter turnout in the second round of the presidential elections in Romania was 64.72 percent. Over 11,507,695 Romanians have exercised their right to vote.

Nicusor Dan is the winner at the national level, with massive support in Bucharest, Cluj, Timiș, Iași and Brașov. As for diaspora support, Gheorghe Simion has more votes than Nicusor Dan in Italy, Austria, Germany, Norway, Belgium, France, Spain, Great Britain, Iceland.

The official results will become final after their validation by the Constitutional Court of Romania.
