During the meeting of US Vice President J.D. Vance with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican today, the two exchanged gifts, the Associated Press reported, citing Vance's office, BTA reported.
The US Vice President gave the pope copies of two of the most famous works of St. Augustine - – “City of God“ and “On Christian Doctrine“. Before becoming pope, Leo XIV was part of the Order of St. Augustine.
Vance also gave Leo XIV a T-shirt of the American football team “Chicago Bears“ with the pope's name written on it.
In turn, the pontiff presented Vance with a bronze sculpture with an inscription in Italian that reads "Peace is a fragile flower" and a book with photographs of the papal apartment in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. Leo XIV had mentioned to Vance that he might live in this apartment, but had not yet made a final decision on the matter.
