Following his conversation with Vladimir Putin, Trump also held a telephone conversation with EU leaders, during which he actually signaled a sharp change in his policy regarding the war in Ukraine, the publication said.

BILD sources in the German government claim that Trump is no longer demanding Putin's consent to a 30-day ceasefire and has no intention of imposing new sanctions against Russia, which he had previously promised to European allies.

According to sources, the participants in the conversation with Trump (among whom were German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloni and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky) were stunned by Trump's statement that “Russia and Ukraine will now seek a solution between themselves“.

One of BILD's interlocutors says that after these words "everyone held their breath" and no one even dared to specify whether this meant the final refusal of the US to support Ukraine.

According to the sources, Berlin fears a complete abandonment of Washington's current role in the conflict and the lifting of US sanctions against Russia.

UNIAN reported earlier that Western media outlets continue to reveal details of the telephone conversation between Trump and European leaders after his conversation with Putin. According to The Wall Street Journal, in this conversation the US president told the Europeans that the Russian president was not ready to end the war because he considered himself the winner of it.

Although it was already clear to the Europeans what Putin was thinking, this assessment, expressed for the first time directly by Trump, completely froze them, the media outlet writes. Most recently, the American leader stated that Putin sincerely wants peace.
