Hungary may lose its right to vote in the European Union due to violation of democratic principles. This was stated by Ukrainian MP Maria Mezentseva-Fedorenko on the air of День.LIVE, UNIAN agency reported.

Mezentseva believes that Hungary will be deprived of the right to vote and this is a logical explanation of the policy that the Hungarian government is pursuing towards Ukraine and the European Union as a whole.

“If you are a member state, you must fulfill specific conditions, you must uphold the principle of human rights, not violate the constitution, etc.“, she said. According to the country's policy, it will change next year with a change of government.

The Ukrainian MP believes that there will be enough support in the EU to deprive Hungary of its right to vote. This decision, she believes, must be made urgently, especially against the backdrop of the spy scandal with Ukraine.

Relations between Kiev and Budapest have soured after the Russian army's invasion of Ukraine and Viktor Orban's continued support for this aggression. Orban is one of the few European politicians who openly support Vladimir Putin and his aggression against Ukraine.

On May 9, Ukrainian authorities announced that they had arrested two Ukrainian citizens in the Transcarpathian region, accused of spying for Hungary. This is the first time that Ukraine has arrested people on charges of spying for Hungary. Relations between the two countries are at their worst in 30 years.
