A cloud of volcanic ash rose above the Etna volcano - 1

A cloud of volcanic ash several kilometers high rose above the Etna volcano after part of one of its craters collapsed, ANSA reported, BTA reported.

According to the Etna Observatory at the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Catania, it is most likely a pyroclastic flow (superheated rocks, tephra, soot and toxic gases), formed after the collapse of material from the northern slope of the Southeast crater.

According to preliminary observations, the hot material did not pass over the edge of the Valley of the Lion.

At the same time, it became clear that the activity from the Southeast crater led to the formation of a lava fountain, and volcanic tremors have reached very high values.
